Book launch of the Spanish drawings in the Courtauld Gallery.The exhibition explores the rich intriguing and varied territory of Spanish drawings. The Courtauld Gallery holds one of the most important collections of Spanish drawings outside Spain totaling approximately 100 works ranging from the 16th to the 20th centuries. They include examples by many of Spain 2019s greatest artists such as Ribera Murillo Goya and Picasso. Dr Veliz has degrees from Florida and La Trobe universities and has made major contributions to the study of the history of Spanish Art and the history of Restoration of Paintings in Spain. Amongst her previous publications a major monograph on Alonso Cano 2019s drawings with its many new insights into the history of drawing in Spain. Dr Vliz will be joined at the launch by Dr Hilary Macartney who is the major authority on Stirling Maxwell 2019s life and work and Ernst Vegelin.
